Students create Racial Equity Report to show the effects of racism in Vermont

What students can and should be introduced to their school curriculum has been the topic of much debate over the last few years. Amongst the most contentious of topics, in a growing number of school districts lessons around race and ethnicity, racism and racial equity have been highly scrutinized, watered down or eliminated entirely. Students at Mount Anthony Union High School in Vermont felt they weren’t learning enough about race in school and so took it upon themselves to, “write a report to alert and educate other young people.”

The Racial Equity Report 2022 was created by students to help Vermonters understand the history of racism in the state and influence change to support people of color. Read more about the students’ work and access the full report.
